Section 01
The Short Version
Important
ÉclaireSkin provides AI-generated skincare guidance. It is a guide, not a diagnosis — you know your skin best. For personalised medical advice, a dermatologist is always worth consulting.
Everything ÉclaireSkin tells you — skin observations, ingredient analysis, routine suggestions — is generated by artificial intelligence, personalised to the profile you provide. It is educational and informational, not medical or clinical.
This disclaimer applies to all features of the Service: the skin profile quiz, photo analysis, ingredient checker, routine builder, tips and articles, and any premium features.
Section 02
Not Medical Advice
ÉclaireSkin is not a medical service. Nothing in the Service constitutes:
- Medical advice
- Clinical diagnosis of any skin condition, disease, or disorder
- A recommendation to start, stop, or change any medical treatment
- A substitute for consultation with a dermatologist, doctor, or other qualified health professional
If you have concerns about a skin condition — particularly anything painful, rapidly changing, or affecting your health — please see a qualified medical professional. Do not delay seeking medical care because of anything you read in this Service.
Section 03
AI-Generated Content
All guidance, observations, and recommendations in ÉclaireSkin are generated by artificial intelligence — specifically the Claude API provided by Anthropic. AI-generated content is clearly labelled throughout the Service.
AI-generated content:
- May not be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your individual situation
- Is based on general skincare knowledge — not a clinical assessment of you
- Should be used as a starting point for your own research, not as a definitive answer
- Does not account for drug interactions, medical conditions, or prescription treatments you may be using
We do not warrant that AI-generated content will be error-free or uninterrupted.
Section 04
Photo Analysis
When you upload a photo, ÉclaireSkin generates descriptive observations about your skin appearance — for example, "skin appears dehydrated" or "barrier may be compromised." These are observational descriptions based on visual appearance, not clinical assessments.
What photo analysis never does
- Diagnose any skin condition
- Identify medical disorders
- Assess moles or lesions
- Replace a dermatologist's evaluation
What photo analysis does
- Describes visible skin appearance
- Suggests relevant ingredient types
- Personalises to your skin profile
- Flags areas worth monitoring
Photo quality, lighting, skin tone, and camera settings all affect observations. Results are a guide only. If you notice any unusual skin changes — new moles, changing lesions, persistent redness or irritation — please see a doctor.
Section 05
Ingredient Guidance
The ingredient checker provides contextual observations about skincare ingredients personalised to your skin profile. It is designed to help you understand ingredient lists — not to provide a safety certification or clinical assessment.
Important limitations:
- Ingredient analysis does not account for your full medical history or any conditions you have not disclosed
- If you have known allergies or sensitivities, always check the full product label independently
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding guidance is provided as general cosmetic information — always confirm with your midwife, GP, or obstetrician
- If you have a skin condition being treated by a doctor, check ingredient changes with them first
Always patch test new products, regardless of what any ingredient analysis tool tells you.
Section 06
Product Recommendations
Where ÉclaireSkin suggests product lines, these suggestions:
- Are based only on brands you have explicitly listed — we never suggest brands unprompted
- Reference product lines (e.g. "the CeraVe hydrating range"), not specific product SKUs
- Are not influenced by advertising, affiliate commissions, or brand relationships — ÉclaireSkin accepts none of these
- Do not account for regional availability, current formulations, or individual product variants
Product formulations change. Always read the current label of any product before use, particularly if you have allergies or sensitivities.
Section 07
What We Never Do
Never
- Diagnose skin conditions or diseases
- Recommend specific prescription treatments
- Assess moles, lesions, or suspicious skin changes
- Guarantee skincare results or timelines
- Accept commissions or advertising from brands
- Recommend brands you haven't specified
Always
- Label AI-generated content clearly
- Recommend seeing a professional for clinical concerns
- Set realistic expectations (8–12 weeks for results)
- Personalise to your skin profile only
- Keep your skin data on your device
Section 08
When to See a Professional
Please consult a dermatologist or doctor if you experience any of the following — ÉclaireSkin is not the right tool for these situations:
- A mole, lesion, or skin mark that is new, changing, or unusual
- Persistent, painful, or rapidly worsening skin conditions
- Suspected allergic reactions or contact dermatitis
- Any skin concern during pregnancy that you are unsure about
- Skin conditions that have been diagnosed and are under medical management
- Any concern that is affecting your health, wellbeing, or daily life
